How did you get started as a fashion designer?
I first got started in the industry when I was 18 years old. I put on my very first fashion show when I was 18 at Chico State University and over 1000 people showed up to see what would be the start of an amazing and unforgettable future which you see today.
Who inspire you the most in the fashion industry?
When It comes to inspiration there are numerous people that inspire me. The people who inspire me the most right now when it comes to the new collections that I am working on are Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Chris Brown. I think that each of them know what it is to be a true style icon and have true style. They have inspired me over the years and I would love to someday design for them! But I would really like to see one of my signature Jason C Peters bear hoodies on President Obama! I think that would be dooooooope!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get inspiration from everything! I think I get most inspired from everyday life situations that we all go through as people living on this earth. I think that some of my greatest work comes from some of the darkest times in my life. Out of dreary darkness always comes beautiful light!
Do you have any upcoming projects?
Even though I have a ton of projects coming up with New York Fashion Week and All Star Weekend; the project that I am most happy to discuss is my kick starter campaign. I wanted to create something so real that it could affect real people’s lives. I want to put on a fashion tour. It is titled the Jason C Peters “People like Us” US Fashion Tour! I hope to change the lives of thousands and eventually millions with this tour. I am going to be going around the United States to homeless shelters, high schools, hospitals and the streets to hear people’s real life stories of how they feel like they may be the “underdog.” I want to channel positivity into everyone’s lives to give them the confidence to know that they do matter and to help their self-esteem and self-worth. I hope that I can raise thousands for this project and be able to touch the lives of those who may feel lost, unloved and unwanted. I am going to be giving them full makeovers, new wardrobes, mentoring and more! The great thing is, is that along with the industry models I will also have these “real people” in my show! Many designers have done fashion tours but the fashion tour that I am about to do has never been done in the history of the fashion world! Help me change lives and donate today! Every bit counts!!
